How can I get my new hardware key’d to match my existing hardware?

It is possible to get your new hardware key’d to match your existing Schlage or Dexter Hardware.

UPDATE: With the release of Schlage SecureKey, the best way to get your new door hardware key’d to match your existing Schlage hardware is to purchase SecureKey Locks. Securekey lets you rekey your new door hardware to your existing keys when the hardware arrives.  To find all SecureKey hardware follow this link for  SecureKey hardware or search for SecureKey in the searchbar

Once your new hardware arrives, simply insert your provided blue SecureKey, then remove it and rekey your new locks to your existing keys.

If you don’t wish to purchase SecureKey hardware you can always use these existing methods.

Provide us with your key “code” This is the 5 to 6 digit code that is stamped on the side of the box of your original hardware, or stamped on your original keys. When you select your new hardware, be sure to indicate it as “Key’d Alike” when you place it in your cart.

Finally when you view your cart enter this comment in the Special instructions

Please key to 123456

(replace 123456 with your actual code)

If you do not have your key code handy, you can also mail us your key and we will match your existing locks to it.
Add all your new hardware to your cart, and put this in the special instructions.

Please hold order and key to existing hardware key, which is on the way.

Then mail the key to us

620 Spyglass Ln
Waukee IA 50263
ATTN: Order# 54321

(Replace 54321 with your actual order number. )

Please keep in mind, we can only key new hardware to existing Schlage and Dexter hardware.

I think you are asking how do you get new hardware key’d to your existing hardware. Stamped on the side of an original key will be the key code. However, if you get new door hardware it will also be stamped on the box.

A recent, and better option is to purchase SecureKey hardware. This puts the re-keying of the locks in your control. You can re-key your locks when they arrive to your existing keys.
